Abu Dhabi and Saadiyat in July

July is peak heat in Abu Dhabi, and it doesn't let up at night. That keeps the beaches empty and hotel prices well below winter. Things to do in Abu Dhabi in July mostly happen indoors, with the sea saved for sunrise and sunset.

Is July a good time to go?

For a classic beach holiday, no: lying in the sun is unpleasant for most of the day. For museums, a resort with good pools and low-season prices, yes, as long as you plan every day around the heat.

What to do

  • The museums, slowly. The Louvre Abu Dhabi, the Zayed National Museum, the Natural History Museum and teamLab Phenomena stand close together in the Cultural District, and the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi joins them if its opening, planned for 11 December 2026, goes ahead. You can spend several air-conditioned days there; take a taxi between them, even for short hops.
  • Swim at dawn or after sunset. The sea is about 33°C (91°F), like warm bathwater. Go in before 9:00 or in the evening, and keep midday for the shade.
  • Last month of turtle nesting. July closes the hawksbill nesting season on Saadiyat.
  • Indoor days out. Yas Island, about 15 min away by taxi, has two indoor theme parks, Ferrari World and Warner Bros. World, plus Yas Mall.

Prices and crowds

July is low season. Hotels and apartments cost less than in winter, and the island has few tourists. The trade-off is the heat: most of the day is spent indoors.
