Abu Dhabi and Saadiyat in August

Visiting Abu Dhabi in August means the hottest weather and the warmest sea of the year, with low-season prices to go with them. The turtles have finished nesting, there are no major events, and the island is at its quietest.

Is August a good time to go?

Only if price matters more than comfort. August is usually the hottest month, the sea is too warm to cool you down, and outdoor sightseeing is limited to early morning and evening. What still works well: museums, resort pools and spas, and malls, all at low-season rates.

What to do

  • Museums by day. The Cultural District museums are air-conditioned and quiet in August, so take your time.
  • The sea at sunrise. At about 34°C (93°F), the water is at its warmest. Swim before 9:00 or after sunset.
  • Get around by taxi. Use taxis or a rental car even for short distances; walking 15 minutes in the midday sun is hard work.
  • A resort day. In August, a beach hotel's pools, shade and spa are part of the plan, not a fallback.

Prices and crowds

August is low season. Hotel and apartment prices are below winter levels, and the island is as quiet as it gets all year. If you want Saadiyat without crowds and can live with the heat, this is the month.
