Abu Dhabi and Saadiyat in April
April is a beach month. The sea has warmed up, the winter crowds have gone, and the heat builds week by week. Things to do in Abu Dhabi in April come down to the beach in the morning and evening and museums in the afternoon.
Daytime air 34°C (93°F)
Sea 26°C (79°F)- Rainy days: 0
Crowds: Medium
Is April a good time to go?
Yes, especially in the first half. The sea is warm, prices are lower than in winter, and turtle nesting is at its peak. By late April the afternoons are hot, so plan the beach for morning and evening and save the midday hours for indoor sights.
What to do
- Swim. The sea is about 26°C (79°F), warm enough to stay in for as long as you like.
- Turtle season at its peak. April and May are the busiest months for hawksbill turtle nesting on Saadiyat's beaches. Nests are marked and signposted; keep clear of them and stay off the dunes.
- Museums in the hottest hours. The Louvre Abu Dhabi, the Zayed National Museum, the Natural History Museum and teamLab Phenomena are a short taxi ride from the beach hotels and fully air-conditioned, and so is the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, whose opening is planned for 11 December 2026.
- Walk the Mamsha promenade at sunset. The evenings are warm and still pleasant outdoors.
Prices and crowds
April is shoulder season. With the winter holidays over, crowds thin and hotel and apartment prices fall below the winter peak; Visit Abu Dhabi names April and May as slightly cheaper months than the rest of the year.
