In short

The Abrahamic Family House is an interfaith complex in Abu Dhabi: a mosque, a church and a synagogue built side by side on one plaza on Saadiyat Island. People also search for it as the "Abrahamic House," the "Abrahamic Centre" or the "multi-faith complex." It stands in the Cultural District, a short drive from the Louvre Abu Dhabi and the Zayed National Museum.

The three houses of worship are working buildings, not a museum. They have the same height and volume, and each follows the architecture of its own faith. A raised garden and a forum between them are meant for meetings and dialogue. The complex was designed by the Ghanaian-British architect Sir David Adjaye and opened to the public on 1 March 2023 as a symbol of Islam, Christianity and Judaism living side by side.

Opening hours

Daily 10:00–17:00

Visits and guided tours run 10:00–17:00, depending on how many slots are left and on religious holidays. Tours pause for services on Friday around midday, on Saturday from morning to mid-afternoon and on Sunday around midday, so book outside those times if you want to see all three interiors. During prayers and ceremonies, the building in use can close to visitors for a while on any day.

as of October 2026

What to see

  • Eminence Ahmed El-Tayeb Mosque: Named after the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar. Pointed arches run along the facade, and a minaret rises above the garden. The prayer hall is open to visitors outside prayer times.
  • St. Francis Church: Named after the 13th-century friar Francis of Assisi. Inside, look up at the timber vault over the main hall.
  • Moses Ben Maimon Synagogue: Named after the 12th-century scholar also known as Maimonides. Its facade is a lattice screen.
  • The garden and forum: The shared space between the three buildings, designed for meeting and dialogue.

Tips

  • Dress code. Cover your neck, elbows and ankles, and avoid tight or sheer clothing. Women cover their hair in the mosque and the synagogue; scarves are free at the Welcome Center.
  • Plan around services. Friday midday is the main congregational prayer at the mosque, and weekend services pause the tours. If seeing all three interiors matters to you, avoid those times.
  • Allow about an hour. That's the length of the guided tour, so the visit fits into a museum day with the Louvre Abu Dhabi or the Zayed National Museum.
