Yas Island: theme parks, beach and Yas Marina

Yas Island and its theme parks

Yas Island is where Abu Dhabi's theme parks are: Warner Bros. World, Ferrari World, Yas Waterworld and SeaWorld Abu Dhabi all stand on one 25 km² island. It lies next to Zayed International Airport, about 15 min from it by taxi, and it also has a paid beach, Yas Mall, Yas Marina and the Formula 1 circuit. From Saadiyat Island it is 19.3 km, about 15 min by taxi.

Plan five to seven hours for Warner Bros. World or Ferrari World, and five to six for Yas Waterworld or SeaWorld.

Three of the four parks are indoors, which matters from May to September, when daytime temperatures in Abu Dhabi reach 44°C (111°F). Yas Waterworld is the only one in the open air.

Yas has four theme parks today. A fifth, from Disney, has been announced but not built; the section on Disney Abu Dhabi below says what is known.

Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi

Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi is an indoor theme park that opened on 25 July 2018, built around Warner Bros. cartoons and DC superheroes. The park's site lists more than 30 rides and experiences across six themed lands: Warner Bros. Plaza, Bedrock, Dynamite Gulch, Cartoon Junction, Gotham City and Metropolis.

The lands follow the characters. Bedrock is built around the Flintstones, Cartoon Junction around Bugs Bunny, Scooby-Doo and the other cartoon characters the park advertises for younger children, and Gotham City and Metropolis are the DC superhero lands. Which land suits which age depends on the ride, so check ride descriptions and height limits before the visit rather than choosing by land. Plan five to seven hours, and more if you want to ride everything twice.

Tickets start at AED 325 (≈ $88). The park's own site gives 10% off if you buy at least seven days ahead, and parking and the island shuttle are free. Height limits are set ride by ride; check them on the park's site before you promise a child a particular ride. For hours on your date, call the park on 600 511115 (9:00 to 19:00) or look at its calendar.

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi

If you have asked "what is the Ferrari building in Abu Dhabi?", it is this: the large red roof on Yas Island is Ferrari World, an indoor theme park that opened in November 2010. The park's site calls the roof the tallest space-frame structure ever built, and counts more than 40 attractions under it, sorted into three groups: fast rides for adults, family rides, and an area for small children ("Little Champions").

The best-known ride is Formula Rossa, a roller coaster that reaches 240 km/h. Flying Aces, which the park describes as the highest loop ride, is the other headline ride. In a mixed group, the three-way split means adults and older teenagers can take the fast rides while younger children stay in their own area. Check ride height limits before you buy tickets for small children.

Tickets start at AED 345 (≈ $94); check the official site for the current adult and child prices, as online sellers often offer advance discounts. A VIP package with extras costs AED 1,995 (≈ $543).

Yas Waterworld

Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi is an outdoor water park with more than 60 rides and attractions, including water slides and a wave pool. Children under 3 get in free. Adult tickets start at AED 280 (≈ $76); check child prices and height rules on the park's site.

Because it is outdoors, it is most comfortable from October to April. In summer, go at opening time, before the hottest hours.

SeaWorld Abu Dhabi

SeaWorld Abu Dhabi opened in May 2023 and is indoors, built around marine life rather than rides. The park's site counts more than 100 animal experiences and presentations. The park also runs the Yas SeaWorld Research and Rescue Center, which responds to distressed marine animals, and says that every ticket supports its conservation work. The park's site does not mention orcas, and we did not find them among the animals it lists.

A one-day ticket costs AED 375 (≈ $102). Children need their own ticket and must be with an adult; the youngest get in free, so check the age limit on the park's site. Plan five to six hours.

Tickets are non-refundable. You can change the date up to seven days before your visit for AED 50 (≈ $14) per ticket. Parking and the island shuttle are free.

Multi-park tickets: is a Yas Island pass worth it?

If you plan more than one park, a multi-park ticket usually costs less than separate tickets. You choose any two, any three or all four parks: Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, Yas Waterworld and SeaWorld. The official site says you save between AED 200–700 (≈ $54–191), depending on the parks.

The rules that matter:

  • You visit the first park on any day, and the other parks within six calendar days of that first visit.
  • The ticket is personal, non-refundable and cannot be exchanged.
  • Entry is by Face Tag: you register your face before your first visit. If that is not possible, staff check your ID at the gate.

Prices differ by seller and season, so compare current offers in the block below.

Queues: we found no published wait-time data for the parks, so we don't quote any. The simple rule is to arrive at opening, do the headline ride first, and ask when you buy whether a skip-the-line option exists for your date.

Good to know

Two parks in one day is too much for most families: each park takes five hours or more. With a six-day window, it is easier to do one park a day and spend the days in between on the beach or in the museums.

Which Yas Island park is best for your age group?

  • Under 3: SeaWorld (indoors, animals rather than rides, free for the youngest) and the shallow areas of Yas Waterworld (free under 3).
  • Ages 3 to 7: Warner Bros. World first, then SeaWorld. Ferrari World is built around fast rides, and the slides at Yas Waterworld have height limits, so check both before you buy.
  • Ages 8 to 12: Warner Bros. World and Yas Waterworld; Ferrari World if they are tall enough for the bigger rides.
  • Teenagers: Ferrari World and Yas Waterworld.
  • Adults without children: Ferrari World for Formula Rossa; Yas Waterworld on a cooler day.

Height and age limits are set for each ride, and we have not listed them here. Check each ride on the park's site.

Disney Abu Dhabi: when will it open?

On 7 May 2025, The Walt Disney Company and Miral, the Abu Dhabi developer behind Yas Island's parks, announced a Disney theme park and resort on Yas Island, on the waterfront. Miral will build it and Disney will lead the creative design and operations. It would be Disney's seventh resort destination and its first in the Middle East.

No opening date has been announced. As of October 2026 we found no official date from Disney or Miral, and press estimates are only estimates, so we don't repeat them. There is nothing to book yet, and tickets sold for "Disney Abu Dhabi" today are not for a Disney park. The four parks above are the ones open now; if Disney sets a date, this is where we will add it.

Yas Marina and Yas Marina Circuit

Yas Marina is the island's yacht harbor, beside the Formula 1 circuit. Boat trips leave from here: a dhow dinner cruise costs about AED 220 (≈ $60) for adults, and a one-hour sightseeing cruise around Yas from AED 141.75 (≈ $39).

Yas Marina Circuit

The Formula 1 track on Yas Island, with venue tours and drive experiences

Yas Marina Circuit has hosted the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix since 2009; race dates are in our Abu Dhabi events guide. Outside race weekends, it is open to ordinary visitors in three ways, according to the circuit's site:

  • Venue tours of the circuit.
  • Yas Kartzone, the circuit's go-kart track.
  • Driving experiences: driving your own car or bike on the Formula 1 track on set sessions, plus drag races, drift sessions and simulators.

The circuit also lets visitors run, cycle and walk on the track in its fitness programs, which have their own dates. If you were searching for "rent a Ferrari in Abu Dhabi", the track sessions are for your own vehicle; for rental cars on the road see our car rental guide. Check prices and dates on the circuit's site, as they change with the racing calendar.

Yas Bay, Etihad Arena and CLYMB

Away from the parks, Visit Abu Dhabi lists these places on Yas Island:

  • Yas Bay Waterfront, an entertainment-lined promenade with restaurants and leisure venues.
  • Etihad Arena, the island's venue for concerts, sports and comedy shows. It seats about 18,000 and opened in January 2021.
  • CLYMB Abu Dhabi, which has the region's tallest indoor climbing wall and an indoor skydiving chamber that its site calls the biggest in the world. The site gives hours of 9:00 to 19:00.
  • Yas Links, a championship golf course, and The Waves, a waterfront park for a relaxed walk.

If you have an evening to fill after a park day, these are the closest options. Concerts at Etihad Arena are sold by the venue; see the events guide for the season.

Yas Beach and Yas Mall

Yas Beach is a Blue Flag beach on the island, open 10:00–19:00. Entry is AED 130 (≈ $35) on weekdays, of which AED 50 (≈ $14) is credit for food and drinks, and AED 200 (≈ $54) at weekends, with AED 100 (≈ $27) of credit. If a beach is the main point of your trip, Saadiyat has about 9 km of beach and more choice; see Saadiyat beaches.

Yas Mall is the island's shopping mall, close to the parks. We could not confirm its hours or store count from the operator, so we don't give them: check on the day. Abu Dhabi's other malls, and how they differ, are in our shopping guide.

How to get to Yas Island from Saadiyat

  • Taxi: 19.3 km, about 15 min, around AED 40 (≈ $11) on the meter.
  • On the island: a free hop-on hop-off shuttle links the parks and the main sights during the day. Parking at the parks is free.
  • From the airport: Yas is about 15 min away, and Yas hotels offer their guests a free airport transfer. See our Abu Dhabi airport guide.

Where the parks are in relation to Saadiyat's hotels and museums is shown on the island map.

Where to stay on Yas Island

Yas has about ten hotels, including The WB Abu Dhabi, W Abu Dhabi – Yas Island, Hilton Abu Dhabi Yas Island, a Crowne Plaza and several Yas Plaza hotels. Staying on Yas makes sense if parks are the main reason for your trip. If you want a beach resort and the museums too, the Saadiyat hotels are about 15 min away by taxi. We compare the areas in where to stay in Abu Dhabi.

Not only theme parks: a day on Saadiyat

On the days between parks, Saadiyat's Cultural District is close by: the Louvre Abu Dhabi, teamLab Phenomena, the Natural History Museum and the Zayed National Museum. All are indoors, which helps in summer.
